Nepali makers, and the public record behind their fair-trade claims.

Information is from public pages and the makers’ own sites, last checked 3–4 November 2026. Makers have not reviewed their entries yet; tell us about any error. “WFTO page: Guaranteed Member” means the World Fair Trade Organization’s own member page shows that status for the organisation, on the date we checked. It is not our certification, it does not cover every product, and Fairmandu is not affiliated with WFTO, Fair Trade Group Nepal or any maker listed. “Not stated” means we did not find it on the sources listed.

How we check

What we do, and what we don’t.

Fairmandu is not a certifier and not a shop. We read public sources, show where each claim comes from, and say when we don’t know.

1

Find

A named maker in Nepal with a working website and a way to contact it.

2

Check

Fair-trade claims are compared with WFTO’s own member page where one exists.

3

Label

Fair-trade status is shown as confirmed by a page, stated by the maker, or not found. Not found is not a criticism.

4

Date

Every entry shows when we last looked. Entries are rechecked at least once a year.

What we do not do

  • We do not audit factories or visit makers. We read public pages.
  • We do not sell products or hold stock. You buy directly from the maker.
  • Payment does not change a maker’s listing or position. Makers appear in the order we added them.
  • We do not use the WFTO or FAIRTRADE logos.

For teams and companies

Plan team gifts from Nepali makers.

Tell us what you need. We suggest makers that appear to offer custom or bulk orders and share what we have checked. The order, price, delivery and any customs are then agreed directly with the maker.

  1. Send us your brief: quantity, budget, destination, date.
  2. We suggest makers that may fit, with what we know and don’t.
  3. You talk to the maker and decide. We are not the seller.
  4. If an order follows, we may earn a finder’s fee. We tell you before you commit.

This opens your email app with the brief filled in; nothing is sent from this page. We may receive a fee from a maker if an order follows from our introduction. It never changes who we suggest.

Questions

FAQ

Are you selling these products?

No. Fairmandu is a guide. You buy directly from the maker, who sets prices, delivery and returns.

Is Fairmandu fair-trade certified?

No. We do not certify anyone. Where a maker has a WFTO member page, we link to it and report what it shows on the date we checked.

How do you earn money?

Today, nothing. In the future we may receive a finder’s fee when an introduction leads to a team-gift order, affiliate commissions on some links, or a fee for optional “enhanced profiles” for makers. Basic listings stay free, and payment will not change a listing’s content standard or position. Any such link or profile will be labelled.

Why are some makers not listed?

We list makers we could identify and check from public pages. Missing a maker is not a judgement. Suggest one.

A maker is missing from WFTO. Does that mean they are not fair?

No. Not every fair producer is a WFTO member. We label this “not found”, and we do not claim anything else.

Why no photos?

We only publish photos with the maker’s permission. We are asking makers for them.

Who runs this

Portrait of Anup Khattri ChettriAnup Khattri Chettri

I am a chemical engineer. I spent 21 years in Germany and now live in Kathmandu, where I also run a research institute. I am vegan, and I care about organic and fair-trade products.

I started Fairmandu to give people one place to see who makes things in Nepal and what has actually been checked.

Spotted a mistake? Write to us. We correct it and note the change.

Are you a maker?

Ask for a free listing, or send corrections to yours. You will see your entry before we update it.

We may offer optional enhanced profiles later; there is no price yet. They will never change how makers are checked or ordered.
